Where is Mark Venus now?
A defender who could play on the left or in the centre, Mark Venus retired from playing professionally in 2004 after a brief spell playing for Dagenham & Redbridge.
A fan’s favourite at Wolverhampton Wanderers where he helped the side win the Division Three and Division Four championships, Venus was also an important member of the Ipswich Town side that finished fifth in the Premier League in 2001.

Once his playing career had finished Venus moved into coaching and joined former Ipswich Town team-mate Tony Mowbray as his assistant manager at Scottish side Hibernian.
The pair enjoyed success north of the border with top four finishes in both 2004-05 and 2005-06 before leaving in October 2006 to return to England with West Bromwich Albion.
Mowbray and Venus enjoyed further success with their new team achieving promotion to the Premier League in 2007-08 and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals in 2008.
Venus and Mowbray were on their travels once again in 2009 when they returned to Scotland with Glasgow giants Celtic.
Unfortunately in a time where the club was going through a transitional stage, results on the pitch were very disappointing and Mowbray was sacked after nine months with Venus following him shortly after.
When Mowbray returned to football management with Middlesbrough in October 2010, Venus once again joined him as his assistant manager.
The pair spent three years at the club before Mowbray was sacked in October 2013 with Venus taking over first-team duties in a caretaker capacity for three games before leaving when Aitor Karanka was appointed as manager.
Venus made a return to football in June 2015 when he was appointed as technical director of Coventry City where his old friend Tony Mowbray was manager.
He stepped up to take over first-team affairs once again in September 2016 after Mowbray’s resignation and he ended up having 18 games in charge before returning to his technical role upon the appointment of Russell Slade.
Venus left Coventry City in March 2017 and joined up with Mowbray for a fifth time at Blackburn Rovers where he is currently employed as his assistant manager.
