Where is Neil Maddison now?

After eight seasons in the Premier League with Southampton and Middlesbrough, Maddison returned to play for his home town club Darlington eventually retiring in 2007.

Upon retiring from playing Maddison went back to Darlington in a coaching capacity and was their Centre of Excellence manager until the club folded in 2012.

Along with two other former Darlington players Maddison has set up a football coaching academy in the area called The Premier Player Football Academy where he is head of outfield coaching

He also spent time work the academy director at Middlesbrough College Sport’s Football Academy.

Maddison also works as co-commentator and match summariser for BBC Tees where his enthusiasm and screaming has made him hugely popular with Middlesbrough fans. 

In July 2018 Maddison made a return to his former club Middlesbrough as the club’s Academy Ambassador and Player Welfare Manager.

He works in a liaison role at Boro looking after academy youngsters who are spending time away from the club on loan or on international duty.
