Jacob Laursen

Where is Jacob Laursen now?

Former Derby County captain Jacob Laursen called time on his career in 2005 after a season playing for Danish First Division side FC Fredericia.

Starting his professional playing career in 1989 in his native Denmark he went onto make nearly 500 first-team appearances over a 16-year period for nine clubs including Silkeborg and FC Copenhagen with whom he won the Danish Superliga title.

On the international front he a represented the Denmark national side on 25 occasions between 1995 and 1999 and featured in the 1996 UEFA European Championships as well as the 1998 FIFA World Cup finals.

After retiring from playing Laursen joined up with fellow former Derby County player Darryl Powell and worked as a senior football consultant at his sports management company.

He then started working as a talent scout/agent and was involved in controversy in 2015 when a Danish court ordered him to pay $200,000 plus interest to Jan Gunnar Solli after he had moved to the New York Red Bulls. The money was the sign on fee that Solli should have received.

Laursen was last seen working as a football pundit on Danish television station TV3+’s coverage of the English Premier League
