Where is Ian Taylor now?

A huge favourite amongst the Aston Villa faithful due to his committed displays and knack of scoring crucial goals, Ian Taylor finally retired from playing in 2007 after dropping down the leagues to play for Northampton Town.

Spending 10 seasons playing in the Premier League with Villa from 1994 to 2003, he went onto play 233 games in the top-flight, scoring 28 goals.

He was also a League Cup winner and an FA Cup runner-up during his time at Villa Park.

Since retiring from playing Taylor has retained his links with Aston Villa by representing the club in an ambassadorial role and has also provided commentary for their in-house television channel AVTV.

Away from football he has set up IT7 Audio – an extremely successful company which manufacturer and supply a range of high-quality music devices, including headphones and portable speakers.

The company has gone from strength to strength with members of the England football squad and cricket team all using products from the range.

In 2014 he graduated from a PFA funded Corporate Governance course entitled On Board. The aim of the course is to get more former professional players on to club boards, and make football’s boardrooms more diverse.

Since 2022 Taylor has been working as managing director of his professional football experience company Optima Sports.
