Where is Frederic Kanoute now?

Upon retiring from playing Kanoute moved to Dubai and set up his own football academy (which has since closed) as well as supporting numerous humanitarian causes through his own foundation.

He has also been working as an ambassador for La Liga along with players such as Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos and Fernando Morientes with the aim of developing the Spanish league on an international level.

After seeing first-hand the poor treatment of young African players by unscrupulous agents he founded his own agency called 12 MANagement, which makes sure that when players are picked up by European clubs the transition is done properly.

#One2Eleven (4-4-2 Formation)

Frederic Kanoute was a guest on Sky Sports programme The Fantasy Football Club in April 2017 where he picked the eleven best players he had ever played with in their #One2Eleven section of the show.

Frederic Kanoute

GK – Andres Palop – a big legend in Sevilla. A fantastic leader in both the dressing room and also on the pitch.

CB – Javi Navarro – the kind of captain and leader who didn’t too much talking but led by example on the pitch.

CB – Ledley King – this guy had everything, quick, skilful and strong. Although he struggled with injuries he is one of the central defenders who impressed me the most.

LB – Antonio Puerta – a little sad for me this as he passed away from a heart disorder at just 23. He was a fantastic talent.

RB – Dani Alves – I played with him for three years at Seville. He was so comfortable on the ball and provided me with many assists.

RM – Jesus Navas – another player who I played with at Seville. He is a fantastic winger who provided me with so many goals I can’t remember.

CM – Seydou Keita – this guy thinks football, eats football and is a winner. I played domestically and internationally with him. Great left foot, strong, technical and with great vision.

CM – Frank Lampard – I played with him at West Ham when were both at the start of our careers. You could see he had tremendous potential. A really great guy who was one of the best at training and always working.

LM – Trevor Sinclair – he was strong and had a fantastic mentality and also scored some brilliant goals. He was a great example to the youngsters.

Striker – Sonny Anderson – I learned so much from him when I was a young player at Lyon. There were not many number 9’s like him as he was strong, quick and strike with both feet.

Striker – Robbie Keane – the kind of player who always gave 100%. A really clever player and we used to understand each other very well on the pitch.
