Where is Edu now?

After an extremely successful career at Arsenal where he won the Premier League twice and the FA Cup three times, Edu retired in 2010 after returning to Brazil with Corinthians.

During his time at Arsenal he was part of the 2004 Invicibles squad which went the entire season without losing.

He was also a member of the Brazil national team in 2004-05 which won the Copa America and the FIFA Confederations Cup.

After a year in retirement, Edu was appointed director of football at former club Corinthians in 2011.

Edu also assisted the Iranian national football team in the 2014 FIFA World Cup working alongside Carlos Quieroz.

In July 2016, Edu was appointed as technical director of the Brazilian national team where he joined up with another former Arsenal player in Sylvinho.

He continued to work with the national team as their general manager and co-ordinator before moving back to Arsenal in July 2019 when he was appointed as the North London club’s first technical director.

His role at the Emirates Stadium is to co-ordinate the work of the first-team and academy in order to ultimately build an efficient and strengthened squad.
