Where is Deco now?

One of the few players in world football to have won the Champions League with two different clubs, the classy midfielder Deco retired in 2013 after failing to recover from a hamstring injury whilst playing for Brazilian side Fluminese.

Upon retiring from playing, he has been busy with many projects which include his ‘Deco Institute’ soccer school that he has founded in his native Brazil.

He is also involved in player management but has no plans to move into a coaching career.

Since 2014, he has been an ambassador for Tiger Street Football, an annual Asian tournament which brings the best street footballers together.

He has also dabbled in football punditry and worked for Indian sports channel SonySix for their coverage of Euro 2016.

In June 2016, he announced that he would be participating in the inaugural 10 day Indian Premier Futsal league alongside other former world stars including Paul Scholes and Michel Salgado.

Having signed a three-year contract, he had to unfortunately pull out of the tournament due to injury.

In July 2017 Deco represented Portugal in Star Sixes, a six-a-side indoor international tournament at the O2 in London featuring some of the world’s most iconic footballers.
