Deco

Where is Deco now?

One of the few players in world football to have won the Champions League with two different clubs, the classy midfielder Deco retired in 2013 after failing to recover from a hamstring injury whilst playing for Brazilian side Fluminese.

Playing professionally for 17 years, Deco made nearly 600 first-team appearances and won a number of trophies in addition to his two Champions League wins including the Portuguese Primeira Liga three times, La Liga twice as well as the Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010.

He was also an important member of the Portgual national side winning 75 caps and playing in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup finals as well as the 2008 UEFA European Championships.

Since retiring from playing Deco has been busy with many projects which include his ‘Deco Institute’ soccer school that he founded in his native Brazil.

He is also involved in player management but has no plans to move into a coaching career.

Since 2014, he has been an ambassador for Tiger Street Football, an annual Asian tournament which brings the best street footballers together.

He has also dabbled in football punditry and worked for Indian sports channel SonySix for their coverage of Euro 2016.
