Where is Dean Ashton now?
A promising Premier League career was cut short for Dean Ashton when he was forced to retire in 2009 at the age of 26 after a long-standing ankle injury which was originally sustained on England duty.
He ended up suing the FA for compensation in 2011 and eventually won a long court battle which was settled out of court.
Despite his early retirement he still made nearly 300 first–team appearances over a nine-year period for three teams including West Ham United where he was part of the side which lost by penalties to Liverpool in the 2006 FA Cup Final.
Upon from retiring from playing, Ashton has moved into the broadcasting world and currently provides punditry and co-commentary for various television channels including BT Sport, ITV, Sky Sports and the BBC.
He is also a regular co-commentator on radio station talkSPORT and makes regular appearances on the after-dinner speaking circuit.
Away from his media duties, Ashton is a keen golfer and currently plays off five.
