Where is Claus Lundekvam now?
Saints legend Claus Lundekvam spent 12 years at the club and was captain for much of that time. He announced his retirement in 2008 after making 357 appearances for the club.
Upon retiring from playing Southampton awarded the popular Norwegian a testimonial game against Scottish giants Celtic.
Unfortunately for Lundekvam, US rockers Bon Jovi had already been booked to play a gig at St Mary’s Stadium during the week that the testimonial was to be played and the pitch was left in a terrible condition afterwards.
With Celtic unable to switch the date, Lundekvam paid out £100,000 of his own money for emergency pitch repairs to ensure the game went ahead.
Luckily the turnout was good with 18,000 fans attending which meant that he almost broke even.

In 2012 he caused controversy by claiming that he and his team mates were involved in betting fraud on games that they were involved in.
These allegations were denied by all parties involved.
In a 2014 interview he admitted that an addiction to alcohol and cocaine almost killed him when he retired from playing.
He admitted that he had plans to fly to Rio and literally drink himself to death and even booked a one way ticket but missed the flight due to a drugs binge.
Nowadays, completely recovered from his addictions, Lundekvam works as a well-respected TV pundit for Norwegian station TV2.
