Brett Ormerod

Where is Brett Ormerod now?

Former Southampton and Blackpool striker Brett Ormerod finally hung up his boots in 2016 after a spell playing in non-league football with Bamber Bridge.

Over a 20-year career he made nearly 600 first-team appearances and scored over 150 goals for 10 professional clubs. A fan’s favourite at Blackpool, he is the only player to have scored in all four divisions for the North-West side.

After Ormerod had announced his retirement he was approached by the Blackpool owners who offered to host his testimonial for free at Bloomfield Road.

However, he turned down the offer due to the ‘toxic environment’ surrounding the club at the time as he didn’t want all of the negativity around the club to spoil the day. He opted to use AFC Fylde’s new Mill Farm stadium for his testimonial game instead which was a huge success.

Since retiring from playing, Ormerod has been working in the media as a co-commentator for BBC Radio Lancashire Sport covering teams playing in the North-West.

In October 2019 he had his first coaching experience when he assisted caretaker manager John Hills for AFC Fylde’s FA Cup tie against Peterborough Sports as well as their league game against Borehamwood. Winning both games they moved aside when AFC Fylde appointed a new permanent manager.

He also spent time assisting with the coaching at former side Bamber Bridge FC where he helped out former team-mate Jamie Milligan on a part-time basis.
