Where is Youri Djorkaeff now?

A fan’s favourite whilst at Bolton Wanderers where he linked up with fellow international stars Jay Jay Okocha and Ivan Campo, Youri Djorkaeff called time on his career after a final swansong in the MLS with the New York Red Bulls.

He enjoyed a trophy-laden playing career winning the French Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Cup with his clubs as well as the FIFA World Cup, the European Championship and also the Confederations Cup with the France national team.

Upon retiring from playing in 2006 he decided to stay in New York where he has set up the Youri Djorkaeff Foundation.

The foundation aims to provide services and programs to the children of New York City through soccer for social change and improvement in the areas of athletics, mental and physical health and education.

During the Euro 2016 tournament, Djorkaeff worked for French television station TF1 as a pundit and match analyst alongside former France team-mate Frank Leboeuf.

In 2019 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the FIFA Foundation which is as an independent entity with the objectives to help promote positive social change around the world and raise support for the recovery and reconstruction of damaged or destroyed sports infrastructure worldwide.

His son Oan has followed in his father’s footsteps and currently plays in Scotland for St Mirren.
