Upon retiring from playing in 2006 he decided to stay in New York where he has set up the Youri Djorkaeff Foundation.

The foundation aims to provide services and programs to the children of New York City through soccer for social change and improvement in the areas of athletics, mental and physical health and education.

During the Euro 2016 tournament, Djorkaeff worked for French television station TF1 as a pundit and match analyst alongside former French team mate Frank Leboeuf.

In July 2017 he represented France in Star Sixes, a six-a-side indoor international tournament at the O2 in London featuring some of the world’s most iconic footballers.

His son Oan Djorkaeff has followed in his father’s footsteps and currently plays in Scotland for St Mirren.
