Where is Ian Bishop now?
Former West Ham United midfield legend Ian Bishop finally hung up his boots in 2004 after a spell in the United States playing with Miami Fusion and also the New Orleans Shell Shockers.
Starting his career at Everton in 1983, he went onto make over 600 professional appearances for 11 clubs including two spells with Manchester City where he experienced the jubilation of back-to-back promotions but also the heartbreak of two relegations with the club.
Upon retiring from playing, Bishop stayed in the United States with his family and currently works as technical director of local side Evergreen FC’s youth programme. He is also head coach of the Evergreen Hammers FC which are an amateur team that play in the Professional Development League.
Away from football Bishop is a keen artist and was once a keen poker player winning £30,000 in a tournament in the early 2000’s – however he doesn’t play so much any more.
He currently hosts a podcast with his two sons called 5 Pints in with Ian Bishop.
