Gianluca Festa

Where is Gianluca Festa now?

One of the first Italians to play in the Premier League, Gianluca Festa called time on his career back in his home country in 2009 with Serie D team Tavolara.

Upon retiring he was appointed assistant manager at Cagliari but his role was then changed to “Technical Area Member”.

In 2012 he joined Italian third tier team Lumezzane as manager but left the club in June 2013.

In 2014 it was widely thought that Gianluca Festa was to be announced as the new Leeds United manager by their new owner but after a weekend of turmoil at the club nothing came of it.

In April 2015, Gianluca Festa was appointed head coach of Serie A side Cagliari until the end of the season.

Despite a run of wins Festa was unable to keep Cagliari from relegation and was he replaced at the end of the season.

Six months later, Festa was back in football management when he was appointed as head coach of Italian second division side Como.

His reign unfortunately only lasted until March 2016 when he was sacked with the club at the bottom of the table.
