Gianluca Festa

Where is Gianluca Festa now?

One of the first Italians to play in the Premier League, Gianluca Festa called time on his career back in his home country in 2009 with Serie D team Tavolara.

Playing for 23 years he made over 600 first team appearances for nine different sides including spells with Roma and Inter Milan.

Upon retiring from playing he went straight into coaching and was appointed assistant manager at former side Cagliari before joining Italian third tier team Lumezzane in a short spell as head coach.

In 2014 it was widely thought that Festa was to be announced as the new Leeds United manager by new owner Massimo Cellini but after a weekend of turmoil at the club nothing came of it.

A year later he made a return to relegation-threatened Cagliari as head coach until the end of the season but despite a run of wins he was unable to keep them up and was he replaced at the end of the season.

In November 2015 he was appointed as head coach of Italian second division side Como but his reign unfortunately only lasted four months and he was sacked with the club at the bottom of the table.

His next management role came in September 2018 when he was appointed manager of Greek Super League side Larissa but he resigned at the end of the season for personal reasons.
