Where is Carlton Cole now?
Former West Ham United striker Carlton Cole retired from playing in 2017 after a five month stint playing in the Indonesia Liga 1 with Persib Bandung.
A product of the Chelsea academy, he went onto make nearly 400 first team appearances for eight different clubs including spells in Scotland with Celtic and the United States with the Sacramento Republic.
The majority of his domestic playing career was with The Hammers where he spent nine seasons between 2006 and 2015 winning seven caps for the England national side during his time there.
Whilst on international duty Cole fell victim to a prank by Jermain Defoe who tricked him into taking a Viagra pill claiming that it was a vitamin. He then had to take part in a training session having to deal with the obvious effects.
Upon retiring from playing Cole returned to West Ham to work within their matchday hospitality areas before going into the coaching side of the game assisting former team-mate Jack Collison and the club’s under-16’s side.
He now works within the club’s academy as a support coach which involves mentoring their youth players and coaching their strikers. He also represents the club as an ambassador on tours and matchdays.
