The Brazilian playmaker Neymar Jr. doubles up as Paris Saint-Germain’s forward. Neymar boasts of a stable career marked with loads of achievements especially while playing for Barcelona. He’s achieved the Copa Del Rey, the treble of La Liga, and the Champions League.

If this list was all about ability, Neymar would come short of 1st position losing out on Messi. The Brazilian is a masterpiece. 2019 has been a rough year for Neymar from injuries to poor form, suspensions and off-field woes including a false rape accusation.

However, in the recent months, these woes have been put to rest and he’s brought back his shine in the recent months scoring for PSG 8 times in his last 11 games. A debut for the French champion.

10. Luis Suarez

Position: Forward

Team: FC Barcelona/ Uruguay

Uruguayan professional footballer Luis Suarez is a must-watch. The Barcelona striker is billed as one of the best footballers in the world. He’s bagged tons of awards and trophies for both club and the national team. They include the UEFA Champions League, Copa America and Premier League Golden Boot among others.

The Uruguayan hitman has had an impressive 2019 with an epic scoring record of 25 goals. 12 of which were part of the beginning of the last term, quite a strong start. The sensational lobbed back heel while playing against Mallorca was arguably the best he’s scored in his career.

9. N’Golo Kante

Position: Midfielder

Team: Chelsea FC/ France

N’golo Kante’s ability to adapt has made him a household name in the football space. The Frenchman was forced to level up his game at Chelsea by Maurizio Sarri. With Frank Lampard taking over at Stamford Bridge he’s managed to ensure an impressive play over time dishing out eccentric energy and goals

8. Bernardo Silva

Position: Midfielder

Team: Manchester City/ Portugal

Bagging Man City’s player of the year is no mean feat but Bernardo’s blistering performance last season earned him a seat amongst the crème de la crème players.

The silky Portuguese craftsman is arguably the club’s smartest signing with a tantalizing on-pitch play that’s a must watch out for in 2020.

7. Sergio Aguero

Team: Manchester City/ Argentina

Aguero’s play is like fine wine. From strength to strength, his game only gets richer over the years. He’s displayed tremendous performance over the years and took it to another level in 2019.

The Argentine’s scoring record of 33 goals in last year helped city to dominate the domestic treble and the Premier League. Last season Aguero made it to the PFA Team of the Year and scored thrice for Argentina in the semi-finals of the Copa America.

6. Alisson Becker

Team: Liverpool FC/ Brazil

When Alisson Becker joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2018, it marked the beginning of an astounding era for the world-class keeper. On the other hand, Liverpool quenched its craving for a stable, A-list keeper.

Alisson Becker lived to his expectations giving a phenomenal performance, sharp distribution and an untouchable defence between the sticks. Undoubtedly the best keeper in the world right now, Alisson has won both the Copa America and the Premier League’s Golden Gloves as well as the grandeur Yashin Trophy at the 2019 Ballon d’Or awards.

5. Donny van de Beek

When 2019 kicked off, very few people had heard of Donny van de Beek. But, now, Donny is one of the household names that has set European football ablaze.

The ruthless Dutch player outshone some of the best midfielders- Miralem Pjanic, Toni Kroos and Thiago Alcantara. Ajax enjoyed an epic El-Classico rise to the semi-finals in last season’s Champions League with Donny the epitome at the top.

4. Kylian Mbappe

Position: Forward

Team: Paris Saint Germain/France

Mbappe set tongues wagging at the 2018 World Cup where he closed with four neat goals and bagged the Best Young Player award as France took home the trophy for the second time.

Ever since, his gameplay has just gotten better. in the last season, the 20-year old was Ligue 1’s top scorer bagging 33 goals in 29 games and with 5 more to go, PSG is on a direct flight to pure domination. It won’t be long before this gem is whisked away by Europe’s biggest clubs, think of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Ballon d’Or sixth-place finisher has earned his stripes as the biggest talent in the world of soccer since the emergence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

3. Sadio Mane

Position: Forward

Team: Liverpool FC/ Senegal

In the summer of 2016, Liverpool signed up a raw but brilliant talent from Southampton for a whopping $45 million. Sadio Mane has risen to become a ruthless attacker and scorer in the world of soccer. Add in Mo Salah, and the audacious Roberto Firmino in the mix and Liverpool’s attack is the most ferocious in Europe with Mane at the forefront.

Direct, pacy, skilled, energetic and snappy- Sadio Mane is every defender’s worst nightmare.

2. Mohamed Salah

Position: Forward

Team: Liverpool

The ultimate goal machine, Mohammed Salah’s electrifying performance on the pitch is unrivalled. Thanks to his A-class skills, he’s managed to get Liverpool to the top of the charts winning four consecutive away league matches. No other team has shown tremendous performance like that in the history of Premier League.

Ever since the Egyptian hit 44 goals during the 2018/19 all competitions campaign winning both the PFA Player of the year and the Premier League Golden Boot, everything he’s done has been compared to that tremendous performance.

Even though he’s not hit the net as many times, he’s played an integral part in Liverpool’s race to Champions League finest and still managed to get his Golden Boot.

1. Lionel Messi

Position: Forward

Team: FC Barcelona/ Argentina

The unstoppable Messi is the magic of soccer. We can’t mention the best player without Messi popping up in mind fighting to dash off our lips. His coordination tactics and scoring skills are impressive. He’s bagged so far Copa Del Rey, La-Liga, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup among other trophies.

Mind-blowing. That’s the least we can describe Messi’s performance over the past decade. in 2019 alone, he’s scored 40 and assisted 17 leading Barcelona to claim the 2018/2019 La Liga title plus top of the league last season.

It’s impressive how he’s managed to adapt so fast to the erratic environment at Camp Nou compared to his peers who have moved on or retired. The Argentine has managed to maintain peak performance even in the face of a new, inexperienced roster. Messi truly holds his own as the greatest in the world of football.
