Where is Xabi Alonso now?

Regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation, Liverpool FC legend Xabi Alonso called time on his distinguished career in 2017 after spending three seasons at Bayern Munich.

Alonso enjoyed a trophy-laden career at both club and international level including the UEFA Champions League with both Liverpool and Bayern Munich, the FA Cup, the La Liga title and three Bundesliga titles.

At international level, Alonso won 114 caps and was part of the Spanish golden generation of players which won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

Upon retiring from playing, Alonso took his first steps into coaching when he was appointed as manager of Tango Squad FC

The team which was set up by Adidas in 2016 pulls together the best non-signed street footballers from across Europe to represent the sports brand both on and off the pitch.

In an interview with Spanish football expert Guillem Balague in January 2018, Alonso expressed his desire to manage Liverpool, however he expected former team-mate and good friend Steven Gerrard to become manager of the club before him.
