Where is Tony Yeboah now?
Regarded by many as one of the most clinical finishers in Premier League history and adored by the Leeds United fans, Tony Yeboah finished his career in 2003 after a spell playing in Qatar for Al-Ittihad.
Starting his professional career in his native Ghana for Okwawu United in 1986 he went onto play for six clubs over a 16-year period including German side 1. FC Saarbrucken where he was one of the first black players to feature in the Bundesliga.
He enjoyed lots of success during his time in Germany and was the first African player to win the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot award on two separate occasions during his time playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.
By the time he hung up his boots he had scored an impressive 194 domestic goals in 411 appearances as well as scoring 29 goals in 59 games for the Ghana national side.
As part of the Premier League’s 25th anniversary in 2017, Yeboah’s goal against Liverpool in 1995 was voted the league’s second greatest ever goal after Dennis Bergkamp’s against Newcastle United.
Upon retiring from playing, Yeboah returned to Ghana and spent time as chairman of Berekum Chelsea who play in the Ghanaian Premier League,
He is still based in Africa where he has a number of business interests including a couple of luxury hotels called Yegoala (which is his nickname), a nightclub and an international sports agency called Anthony Yeboah Sport Promotion.
