Where is Steve Bould now?
A member of the “Famous Four” backline for Arsenal in the 1990’s which included Tony Adams, Lee Dixon and Nigel Winterburn, Steve Bould retired in 2000 due to arthritis of the toe after spending a single season in the North-East with Sunderland.
Making 500 league appearances over a 20-year career, he won a number of trophies including the league title three times, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup and the European Cup Winner’s Cup.
He also won two caps for the England national side in 1994 at the age of 31 .
Upon retiring from playing Bould went straight into a coaching career, taking his UEFA coaching badges and returning to Arsenal in 2001 as a youth team coach within their academy setup.
After a successful spell as head coach of the Arsenal under-18’s academy side where he won the league and cup, Bould was promoted to assistant manager working under Arsene Wenger, replacing the long serving Pat Rice.
When Wenger left the Gunners at the end of the 2017/18 season and Unai Emery came in, he was kept on to continue his work with the first team with a new title of assistant head coach.
In June 2019 Bould moved away from first team duties after a club restructure to take charge of the Arsenal under 23’s side in a job-swap with former team mate Freddie Ljungberg but after a difficult 2020-21 season he was sacked ending a 30 year association with the club.
Bould made a return to football in June 2022 when he joined Belgian second-tier side Lommel SK in his current role as head coach.
