Phillipe Albert

Where is Phillipe Albert now?

One of the first Belgian players to feature in the Premier League, Phillipe Albert earned legendary status amongst the Newcastle United fans for his performances in Kevin Keegan’s ‘Entertainers’ side which performed so well during the mid-nineties.

One of the popular chants the Magpies fans used to sing about him went ‘Phillipe, Phillipe Albert, everyone knows his name’, sung to the tune from the children’s television series ‘The Adventures of Rupert Bear‘.

Albert retired from playing in 2000 after a year spent in his native Belgium with his first club, Charleroi.

Upon retiring from playing professionally, Albert decided that he didn’t want to be involved in football anymore and he joined up with a friend of his in Belgium assisting him with the running of his fruit and vegetable firm.

11 years later, Albert’s passion for the game returned and he now works as a pundit and match analyst for a Belgian television station covering the Belgian league and the national team games.
