Where is Pavel Srnicek now?
Part of Newcastle United’s resurgence as a Premier League force in the mid-nineties under Kevin Keegan, Pavel Srnicek retired from playing in 2007 after a brief second spell at Newcastle United.
Starting his professional career in 1990 with Banik Ostrava, he went onto make over 400 first-team appearances for eight clubs including spells in Italy with Brescia and Cosenza and Portugal with Beira-Mar.
On the international stage he represented the Czech Republic national side on 49 occasions between 1994 and 2001 and was a member of the squad for the 1996 and 2000 UEFA European Championships.

Upon retiring from playing he returned to the Czech Republic where he founded his own goalkeeping school offering youngsters from around the world the chance to learn from his unique coaching styles.
He also spent time as a goalkeeper coach at Sparta Prague.
In December 2015 Srnicek collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest whilst out jogging and tragically died nine days later after brain scans had shown ‘irreversible damage”.
His funeral was held in his hometown and pall-bearers included Steve Harper who was his understudy at Newcastle and as well as his international team mate Pavel Nedved.
