Where is Nigel Martyn now?
Hailed by former Everton manager David Moyes as his greatest-ever signing, Nigel Martyn was forced to retire from the game after a stress fracture in his ankle in 2006.
Starting his playing career in 1987 for Bristol Rovers, he went onto make 846 first-team appearances for just four teams over a 19-year period and became the first £1 million goalkeeper when he moved to Crystal Palace in 1989.
He also represented the England national side on 23 occasions but was mostly selected as second-choice keeper behind David Seaman.
Upon retiring from playing Martyn spent a brief time has helping out former team-mate David Wetherall at Bradford City as goalkeeper coach on a part-time basis.
A former Cornwall schools representative team cricketer, Martyn currently plays Sunday cricket as a wicket-keeper and has played regularly for local teams near his Harrogate home including Leeds Modernians and Knaresborough.
