Where is Nick Barmby now?
Former Premier League forward Nick Barmby retired from playing in 2012 at the age of 37 after four seasons playing for Hull City.
One of only a handful of players to have scored for six different Premier League clubs, Nick Barmby finally decided to hang up his boots in 2012 at the age of 37.
Starting his professional career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1991 he went onto make over 500 first-team appearances for seven clubs including Liverpool where he won the FA Cup, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup in 2001. He is one of only a handful of players to have scored for six different Premier League clubs
On the international scene he played for the England national side on 23 occasions between 1995 and 2001 and played in the 1996 and 2000 UEFA European Championships.
Having already taken on a player-coach role at Hull City, Barmby stepped up to take over first-team affairs in a caretaker capacity in 2011 when manager Nigel Pearson left for Leicester City.
After a decent start to his managerial career, he took the job on a full-time basis at the start of 2012 but was sacked just five months later after a fallout with the club’s owners.
Barmby made a return to senior football in March 2019 when he joined the coaching staff at Scunthorpe United who were being managed by his former Hull City team-mate Andy Dawson but left at the end of the season after the side were relegated.
In 2023 he joined the strategic board of rugby side Hull FC which aims to enchance the Centre of Excellence at the University of Hull.
