Where is Mike Sheron now?
Former Premier League striker Mike Sheron retired from playing in 2005 after a short spell in non-league football with Warrington Town.
Starting his professional career in 1990 with Manchester City, he went onto make 570 first-team appearances over a 15-year period including spells at Barnsley, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City where he scored 24 goals in 46 games during the 1996/97 season.
Upon retiring from playing, Sheron went into football coaching and joined Bury as their youth team manager in February 2007 where he stayed for three years before pursuing other coaching roles including a 10-month spell as the under-15’s coach at Oldham Athletic.
In July 2011 he was appointed as under-13’s academy coach at Liverpool where he stayed for two years before joining Rotherham United as the head of their academy coaching.
Sheron then moved to Blackburn Rovers in 2017 as assistant coach of the under-18’s before stepping up to manager in 2019. After two successful years with the age-group he was promoted to his current role as under-23’s manager in August 2021.
His son Nathan has followed in his father’s footsteps and is currently plying his trade in the lower leagues with Harrogate Town.
