Michel Salgado

Where is Michel Salgado now?

A fan’s favourite at Blackburn Rovers because of his no-nonsense displays at right back and his desire to win, Salgado retired from playing in 2012 after the club couldn’t afford his contract terms.

Over his illustrious 18-year career, Salgado won a number of trophies including the La Liga title four times, the Spanish Supercup three times and the UEFA Champions League twice with Real Madrid.

He also represented the Spain national side on 53 occasions and featured in both the 2000 European Championships and the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals.

Upon retiring from playing, Salgado has moved into the coaching side of the game and completed his UEFA Pro License in 2021 having already gained the practical experience required in his director of football role at the football academy he has founded in Dubai called Fursan Hispania FC.

In 2018 he joined the Egypt national side as one of their coaching staff working alongside Javier Aguirre but the manager and whole backroom team were sacked in July 2019 after a poor showing at the African Cup of Nations.

He is also regularly seen on our screens as a pundit and match analyst across a number of broadcasters including beIN Sports and Sky Sports.
