Where is Mark Bright now?
A prolific scorer throughout his career, Mark Bright finally decided to retire in 1999 after a season at Charlton Athletic with whom he successfully led back to the English Premier League.
Starting his professional career at Port Vale in 1981 he went onto make over 500 first-team appearances and scoring over 200 goals for six teams.
A holder of two FA Cup runner-up medals and a League Cup runners-up medal, he holds the accolade of scoring the first goal in the new Wembley Stadium which he got in a charity match.
Since retiring from playing Bright has done a variety of media work as a football pundit, analyst and correspondant on stations such as the BBC, Al-Jazeera and Channel 4.
He has also gone into the coaching side of the game and joined Crystal Palace’s academy in 2009 along with former team-mate John Salako and is currently head of under-23’s development.
Alongside his coaching work, he also represents Palace in an ambassadorial role and works as an advisor to the board.
