Marcus Hahnemann

Where is Marcus Hahnemann now?

One of a golden breed of American keepers, fan’s favourite Marcus Hahnemann hung up his gloves in 2014 after returning to first club Seattle Sounders for a two year spell.

Starting his professional career with Seattle in 1994, he went onto make over 450 first-team appearances for eight different sides winning the League Championship twice with the Sounders as well as the Championship with Reading.

He also represented the United States national side on nine occasions and was a member of the squad which went to the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup finals.

Since retiring from playing Hahnemann has settled back in the US and has pursued interests away from football including hunting, mountain biking and skiing. He also flies seaplanes for a local company.

A keen fisherman, he is also a guide at his local trout fishing lake and has recently opened a golf simulator centre in Washington. He still keeps active within the game and coaches young goalkeepers between 12 and 18-years-old on a part-time basis as well as providing punditry and analysis on Seattle Sounders games for local radio station KIRO FM and TV stations Root Sports and Q13 Fox.
