Where is Malcolm Christie now?
After exploding onto the scene with Derby County in 1998, Malcolm Christie unfortunately had to retire at the age of 29 due to a spine injury suffered in training in 2009.
Although his career was cruelly cut short he still managed to make over 200 first-team appearances for three top-tier clubs and represented England at under-21 level on 11 occasions.
Upon retiring from playing Christie fell out of love for the game and opted for a life outside of football working as a salesman for an Aston Martin dealership in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear.
When his young son started playing it inspired him to set up his own coaching academy specialising in outfield attacking players which he currently operates in the Teeside area.
In September 2022 he was recruited by former side Middlesbrough to work within their academy in his current role as a youth development phase coach.
