Where is John Scales now?

A member of the “Crazy Gang” at Wimbledon in the late 1980’s, John Scales retired from playing in 2001 after a brief spell at Ipswich Town.

Starting his professional career in 1984, he went onto make over 450 first-team appearances for six teams winning the FA Cup with Wimbledon and the League Cup with both Liverpool and Tottenham.

He also represented the England national side on three occasions during the Umbro Cup in 1995 and was a non-playing member of the squad which won Le Tournoi de France in 1997

Since retiring from playing he has been heavily involved with the reborn AFC Wimbledon side as well as the Football Foundation where he works in an ambassadorial role.

He also works as a sports consultant and regularly commentates on Premier League games for BBC Radio 5 Live.
