Where is Jermaine Jenas now?
Bursting onto the Premier League scene in 2002 with Newcastle United and winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2002-03, Jermaine Jenas retired from playing in 2016 after failing to recover from a knee injury.
Many people had thought Jenas had already retired from playing because he hadn’t played since his release by Queens Park Rangers at the end of the 2013-14 season and he was making more and more appearances on television.
Despite having to cut his career short he still managed to make 436 first-team appearances for five clubs and was a League Cup winner with Spurs in 2008.
He also represented his country on 21 occasions and was a member of England’s squad for the FIFA 2006 World Cup finals.
Since retiring from playing Jenas has forged a new career in broadcasting working as a pundit and analyst on Match of the Day as well as ITV Sport on their Europa League coverage. He has also worked on a number of games for BT Sport as a co-commentator and a panelist on their Saturday ‘Score’ programme.
Often touted as a potential successor to Gary Lineker on Match of the Day, Jenas honed his presenting skills on the programme’s spin-off show MOTDx and in 2021 he was hired as one of the new permanent hosts of BBC’s The One Show.
He is also currently lead presenter for TNT Sports for the UK coverage of the FIA Formula E World Championship
Aside from his television work, Jenas has set up a company with an old school friend called Aquinas Education which is a recruitment agency specialising in security cleared teaching placements.

Jermaine Jenas was a guest on Sky Sports programme The Fantasy Football Club in August 2013 where he picked the eleven best players he had ever played with in their #One2Eleven section of the show.
GK – Shay Given – a leader who was very vocal before games and a top shot-stopper.
CB – Rio Ferdinand – top play who was the ultimate modern-day centre half.
CB – Ledley King – he was that good he could’ve gone onto do anything, anywhere. Two good feet, quick and strong.
CB – Ashley Cole – very attack-minded and used to get up and down the pitch very quick. I don’t think there is a trophy that this guy hasn’t got.
RM – David Beckham – his ability was second to none and he had an absolute wand of a right foot
CM – Steven Gerrard – the godfather of midfielders for me. The best midfielder I have come across and when you’re playing with him he’s such a leader and a driving force.
CM – Michael Carrick – very underated player. He’s been doing it for years and I’ve never seen a midfielder who can spot and pass the ball so quick. A centre-forward’s dream.
LM – Gareth Bale – I’ve never seen such a raw athlete. He’s built to play this game, tall, quick, strong and got a great left foot. He’s unstoppable when he’s at it.
ST – Alan Shearer – I knew when I played with him that if I slipped him in there would be a goal.
ST – Robbie Keane – very slow player but it didn’t matter as he was very clever in his positioning. Defenders never knew where he was going to be.
ST – Wayne Rooney – not only is he a top striker but I just love the way he plays the game. He works his socks off and is such a team player.
