Where is Jeff Kenna now?

After a career spent mostly in the Premier League, Jeff Kenna retired from playing in 2008 after a brief spell in Ireland playin for Galway United and St Patrick’s Athletic.

Starting his career in 1989 with Southampton, he went onto make over 500 first-team appearances for nine different clubsover a 20-year professional career including Blackburn Rovers where he was part of their Premier League winning squad in 1995.

He was also a Republic of Ireland international and won 27 caps between 1995 and 1999.

Kenna along with former Leicester City player Steve Guppy were the first players to have played at both the old Wembley Stadium and the new one when Kenna’s Kidderminster Harriers side faced Guppy’s Stevenage side in the FA Trophy final in 2007.

Upon retiring from playing Kenna went into football management and joined struggling Galway United in 2008, where he turned around the team’s peformances and saved them from relegation that season.

A year later he joined St Patricks Athletic but after indifferent league form and the fact that he was commuting to Dublin from the UK, he resigned just eight months into his tenure.

In August 2011 Kenna was on the move again when he joined the coaching staff at the IMG Academy of Soccer in Bradenton, Florida where he stayed for six months before returning to the UK.

Now settled in the Birmingham area he has said that he has no desire to get back into football management and is happily retired.
