Where is Gunnar Halle now?
After an 11-year spell playing in the English leagues, Gunnar Halle returned to his native Norway to play for Lillestrom and then Aurskog in a player/coach capacity before finally retiring in 2004.
Mostly remembered for his five years at Oldham Athletic where he played over 200 matches, Halle also played for Bradford City, Leeds United and Wolves during his time in England.
He was also an important member of the Norway international side in the 1990’s winning 64 caps and representing them at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup finals.
Upon retiring from playing he joined Lillestrom as an assistant manager working with former Manchester City player Uwe Rosler as head coach until they were sacked in 2006.
He then spent two years as assistant manager of Norwegian side Viking before moving to Lyn where he was promoted to first-team manager in the summer of 2009.
Unfortunately the club went bankrupt in 2010 and Halle joined up with Rosler once more at Molde as assistant coach until the end of the season.
After a spell assisting with the coaching of the Norway women’s national side he joined Norwegian second division side Strommen as assistant manager in 2013. He was then promoted to manager after six months but left at the end of 2015 to work with the younger age groups in the Norway international setup.
After eight years working with all of the age groups in the national team setup from under-15’s to under-19’s he returned to management with Norwegian third-tier side Hønefoss in December 2022.
