Starting his professional career in Columbia in 1988, he went onto make over 409 first-team appearances, scoring 137 goals for 11 sides including spells in Brazil, Argentina and Italy.

His time in with Parma was his most successful in terms of trophies and he won the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Cup during his three seasons at the club.

Since retiring from playing, Asprilla has gone into the sexual health business with a flavoured condom company in his native Colombia which came about after an incident in 1993 when he accidentally exposed himself during a game which ultimately led to him becoming a national sex symbol.

The condoms come in a variety of flavours and are marketed under the name “Tino”.

During the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, he pledged to provide 3.5 million contraceptives to help the global shortage, giving away a million for free using a fleet of drones.

He lives on a farm in his native Colombia and sells sugar cane to the Colombian government.
