Dennis Wise

Where is Dennis Wise now?

After a long, successful career spanning 20 years, Chelsea legend Dennis Wise played his last competitive game whilst at Coventry City in 2006.

Chelsea’s record signing when he joined from Wimbledon in 1990, Wise enjoyed an illustrious playing career which included three FA Cup wins (one with Wimbledon), one League Cup, the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

In the latter years of his playing career he started to get involved in the managerial side of the game, firstly as player manager of Millwall where he took them to the FA Cup Final and then brief spells as manager at Swindon Town and Southampton.

In 2006 he was appointed manager of Leeds United at a time when the club was having financial problems and left in 2008 to join Newcastle United as an executive director.

Unfortunately this role was ill-fated and he left the club in 2009 and has since been on a break from the game however he occasionally appears on shows such as Sky Sports News.

Wise’s son Henry Wise who went up with his dad to collect the FA Cup trophy in 2000 is currently playing for Derby County within their youth academy.

In November 2017 Wise made a return to the public eye when he was unveiled as one of the contestants in the hugely popular ITV show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Wise followed in the footsteps of ex footballers Wayne Bridge, Kieron Dyer, Jimmy Bullard, John Fashanu and Neil Ruddock who have also appeared on the show.
