Darren Ambrose

Where is Darren Ambrose now?

A versatile player who could play in a variety of midfield positions, Darren Ambrose retired from playing at the end of the 2015-16 season after a season playing in League One for Colchester United.

Most of his playing career was spent in the Championship with Crystal Palace and Ipswich but he did spend four full seasons in the Premier League playing for Newcastle United and Charlton Athletic. He ended his career having made 410 first-team appearances for seven different clubs including a spell playing in the Greek Super League with Apollon Smyrni.

During his time at Palace he scored a wonder goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the League Cup which former United defender Gary Neville said was the best he had seen from a visiting team in 20 years. He won Crystal Palace’s Goal of the Season award for three consecutive years from 2010 to 2012.
