Where is Danny Higginbotham now?
An integral part of the Stoke City team which firmly established themselves in the Premier League, Danny Higginbotham retired from playing in March 2014 after spells with Chester and Altrincham.
Starting his career at Manchester United in 1997, he made over 400 first-team appearances for 11 clubs over a 17-year period winning Player of the Year award at Derby County in 2002 and Stoke City in 2007.
On the international scene he qualified to play for the Gibraltar national side through his maternal grandmother and made three appearances for them between 2013 and 2014.
Since retiring from playing Higginbotham has established himself as a football broadcaster with regular appearances on PLTV, talkSPORT, BBC 5 Live, BT Sport and Sky Sports.
In 2020 he relocated to the United States to work as a color commentator for MLS side Philadelphia Union where he spent two years before moving to his current role as an analyst for Apple TV’s coverage of the MLS.
He has also turned his hand to writing and has written an autobiography Rise of the Underdog: My Life Inside Football as well as writing for the Stoke Sentinel newspaper, the Independent newspaper and the Manchester Evening News.
