Celestine Babayaro

Where is Celestine Babyaro now?

At one point the most expensive teenager in Chelsea’s club history, Celestine Babayaro had to call time on his career in July 2010 after unsuccessful trials with both Los Angeles Galaxy and also Portsmouth.

Making over 250 appearances during his 14 year club career, he won a number of trophies including the FA Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Super Cup during his time with The Blues.

He was also the youngest player in the history of the Champions League when he featured for Anderlecht in 1994 at just 16 years and 87 days of age. This record was broken in December 2020 when Youssoufa Moukoko featured for Borussia Dortmund at the age of 16 years old and 18 days.

Upon retiring from playing he moved back to his native Nigeria where he has a number of business interests and endorsements including working as a brand ambassador for Nigerian National League side Kaduna United.

He is currently working as a football agent.
