Where is Brian McBride now?
Fulham legend Brian McBride hung up his boots in 2010 after a successful two seasons back in his native United States with MLS side Chicago Fire.
Starting his professional career in 1994 he went onto make 450 first-team appearances for seven sides over a 16-year period including five seasons in West London with Fulham where he won two consecutive Player of the Year awards in 2005 and 2006.
On the international stage he was an important member of the US Men’s National Team winning 95 caps between 1993 and 2006 and featured in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals.
Upon retiring from playing, McBride moved into the sports broadcasting arena and worked as a pundit and match analyst for Fox Sports and then network rival ESPN FC.
In July 2017, he was appointed head coach of the MLS Homegrown Team which participate in an annual game which showcases the young talent within the MLS League’s youth development system.
In January 2020 McBride was appointed general manager of the US Men’s National Team (USMNT) where his responsibilities included the development and management of the player pool and also to manage the relationships with clubs. He stepped down from the role at the start of 2023.
