Where is Ade Akinbiyi now?

Much-travelled striker Ade Akinbiyi retired from playing in 2010 after a brief spell at Notts County.

Starting his professional career with Norwich City in 1997, he went onto make over 564 first-team appearances over a 17-year period for 14 teams and was involved in a number of big money moves including a £3.5 million move from Bristol City to Wolverhampton Wanderers and a £5.5 million move from Wolves to Leicester City.

He also won promotions during his time at Sheffield United, Burnley and Notts County and was Stoke City’s Player of the Year in 2004.

On the international front he represented the Nigeria national side on one occasion in 1999.

Upon retiring from playing he spent three years out of the game before joining Colwyn Bay in 2013 as player-coach alongside former Leicester City team-mate Frank Sinclair but left the club when Sinclair resigned from his post in 2015.

He has since been working as a football consultant focusing on talent identification in Nigeria and Ghana with talented youths who are looking to further their football careers within Europe.
